Getting the last minute boost it needed, “Takers” was able to overtake “The Last Exorcism” for the top spot in the weekend box office.
With “The Last Exorcism” holding a slight lead during yesterday’s estimates, final results show Hayden Christensen’s “Takers” earning $20.5 million compared to $20.4 million raked in by “Exorcism.”
Coming in third place after two weeks in the top spot was Lionsgate’s “The Expendables,” which churned out $9.5 million to make for an $82 million total.
Rounding out the top five were Julia Roberts’ “Eat Pray Love” at fourth place with $6.9 million and Mark Wahlberg/Will Ferrell’s “The Other Guys” at fifth with $6.5 million.
